The Department of Veterans Affairs Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) plans to negotiate a sole source contract with Cepheid for the procurement of laboratory molecular diagnostic reagent kits designed to detect Tuberculosis and Rifampin-resistant strains, specifically for use in the Microbiology Laboratory located in Durham, North Carolina. These reagent kits are compatible with the existing Cepheid GeneXpert® PCR equipment, and delivery is scheduled for August 2014. The procurement will proceed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, allowing the government to negotiate exclusively with Cepheid without soliciting competitive bids. While this notice indicates intent to award a sole source contract, other parties with the capability to supply compatible reagent kits may express interest by submitting relevant specification data by August 15, 2014, at 4:30 PM EST. Any decision to forego competitive procurement lies solely with the government based on responses received. This procurement falls under NAICS code 325413, with a size standard of 500 employees. Vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and ORCA databases prior to contract award, with registration requiring annual confirmation. For inquiries, the contract specialist Kathy Dunaway is available for contact.
