The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center is inviting vendors to participate in an on-site demonstration of hospital beds, including both regular and intensive care specialty beds. This event is intended solely for information gathering and planning purposes, with no proposals being accepted and no contracts awarded as a result. The demonstration aims to help MEDVAMC plan for the replacement of approximately 300 regular beds and 30 specialty beds, along with mattresses, across the medical center. Each participating vendor may demonstrate one regular bed and one specialty bed, both of which must meet specific feature requirements such as an air mattress with pressure reduction, integrated bed controls, multi-stage bed exit alarms, in-bed patient scales, sliding side rails, and compatibility with major nurse call systems. Specialty beds must include additional functions like CPR and Trendelenburg modes, a low height setting, and motorized foot extension. Vendors are encouraged to showcase any additional functionalities their beds may provide and are expected to present lifecycle costs as well as service and parts agreement options. The demonstration will take place on April 3, 2014, with vendors required to RSVP and submit a completed Test & Evaluation Policy Agreement by March 28, 2014. Equipment may only be unloaded on the day of the demonstration, with limited support provided such as electrical outlets and a table if requested. This demonstration does not guarantee purchase or confer any advantage in the forthcoming formal solicitation, which will follow the Federal Acquisition Regulation procedures.
