This Notice of Intent is for a proposed award of a sole source, firm-fixed price contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b) - Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Service Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. It is not a request for competitive quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 23 intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price contract to Howard Industries, INC. Howard HI Care Lite Plus Cart (BASE173). The VA is expanding its number of medical carts to improve patient care, standardization is paramount to prevent additional training to nursing staff and the VA Sioux Falls Biomedical department already stocks parts and maintains this equipment providing almost no down time for repairs. in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b) - Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Service Will Satisfy Agency Requirements because this medical cart is unique to Howard Industries, INC. Market research revealed that Howard Industries INC. is the developer and distributor for the medical cart currently being sought by VA. Additionally Howard Industries INC. is the only manufacturer that can provide the required medical cart. The medical cart is routinely used by VA to provide medical services for veterans in the VA Healthcare System. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 339113 and the service code is 6515. While this synopsis does not constitute a solicitation, interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to satisfy the requirement.
