The Department of Veterans Affairs, through its Network Contracting Office 2, has issued a notice of intent to award a sole source, non-competitive contract to Biomet 3i, LLC for the procurement of dental implants. This announcement is for information purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or a request for proposals. The procurement addresses the need for a consistent and ready supply of various types and sizes of dental implants to the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Because the implants require maintaining an inventory to ensure adequate coverage without a predictable demand pattern, Biomet 3i has been identified as the only responsible source able to meet these requirements under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidelines. No funds have been authorized for this effort yet, and responses to the notice will not result in reimbursement or guarantee of contract award. The procurement will follow FAR Parts 12 and 16, with a NAICS code of 339113, related to Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing. The contracting officer has discretion over the sole source determination, and oral communications regarding this notice are not accepted. All submitted information will be used solely for market research purposes, and there is no obligation for the Government to acknowledge or provide feedback on submissions. The designated point of contact for this procurement is Cheryl Whitton, Contract Specialist at the Network Contracting Office.
