LBTH Inc. is authorized to conduct water sampling at the Vasquez 12-17 well (API: 0403706651) in the Del Valle Field, Los Angeles County, to determine whether the adjacent Vasquez W.D. 1-17 water disposal well’s injection zone contains an Underground Source of Drinking Water (USDW), as defined by California regulations as water with less than 10,000 milligrams per liter of total dissolved solids. This action is required because existing project files for UIC #1980002 lack sufficient data to confirm compliance with California Code of Regulations Title 14, sections 1724.6 and 1724.7, which mandate that injection zones be evaluated for potential impacts on drinking water sources. The sampling operation will be conducted through a rework of the offset well, which provides necessary access to the injection zone without expanding or modifying the original disposal well infrastructure. The project is supported by a certified Notice of Exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act, utilizing Class 1, Class 2, and Class 4 categorical exemptions related to existing facilities, reconstruction, and minor land alterations, indicating the activity is deemed to have no significant environmental impact.
