The Naval Research Laboratory intends to contract with the Canadian Commercial Corporation, subcontracting to Neptec Design Group, Ltd., for the design, testing, and delivery of a laser-based sensor system paired with real-time pose estimation software. This contract will be awarded through a non-competitive process and focuses on developing a system compatible with existing test equipment and interfaces used in the FREND program and the NRL Proximity Operations Testbed. The delivered system will generate 3D images and provide six degrees-of-freedom pose estimation at a minimum update rate of 5 Hz, with a sensor field of view of at least 40 degrees. The sensor will incorporate two imaging technologies: scanned laser time-of-flight for distances beyond 10 meters and scanned laser triangulation for distances under 10 meters. The project requires completion and delivery within six months following contract award. This effort is aimed at enhancing NRL’s capability in proximity operations through advanced sensing and software integration. While this notice is not a solicitation, it provides contact information for officials involved and directs interested parties to find additional business opportunities through NRL’s website. The contract is identified under solicitation number N00173-07-R-SE02 and falls under the NAICS code 334511, relating to navigational, measuring, electromedical, and control instruments manufacturing.
