The Department of Veterans Affairs, Louis Stokes Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, plans to acquire Research Grade Wearable Sensors through a sole source procurement, specifically targeting APDM, Inc. This decision is based on FAR regulations allowing single-source contracting when only one source is reasonably available. The intended equipment is for funded research to capture full body kinematics using a portable system, rather than a fixed one, along with automated report generation for gait and balance metrics to standardize patient performance assessments. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 334419, which pertains to specialized sensor and sensor product manufacturing. While APDM, Inc. is currently the only source anticipated for this contract, the VA is inviting other interested parties to express their capabilities by a set deadline to determine if a competitive procurement might be warranted. Responses are requested by Friday, July 19, 2019, 5 PM EST, and must be submitted via email to the designated contact with the solicitation number referenced. This notice does not constitute a formal solicitation, and the government reserves the right to proceed with the sole source acquisition based on the information received.
