The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District plans to award a sole-source contract to Navigation Electronics, Inc., based in Canton, Alabama, for the upgrade and trade-in of Trimble Topographic Equipment. This contract is necessary to maintain and enhance the topographic surveying capabilities at the Irvington Site Office within the Mobile District. The upgrade aims to improve speed and accuracy of data collection by supplementing existing equipment with additional compatible Trimble devices. Navigation Electronics, Inc. is the exclusive authorized Trimble dealer in Alabama, making them uniquely qualified to provide the required equipment and timely local support. This procurement follows the authority of FAR 6.302 allowing non-competitive negotiations with a single source due to the specialized nature of the equipment and vendor exclusivity. The contract falls under NAICS code 334511 with a size standard of 750 employees. A notice was issued inviting interested parties to express their capabilities within five calendar days, though the government retains sole discretion on whether to proceed competitively. Questions and communications regarding the acquisition are directed to the USACE representative Jeff Newcomb. The contract was initially issued on September 15, 2015, with a closing date of September 19, 2015.
