66--Notice of Intent to Sole Source

ERDC Contracting Office intends to solicit on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.501 to Meyer Instruments, Inc., 1304 Langham Creek Drive Ste 235, Houston, TX 77084-5042. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP)-only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Meyer Instruments, Inc. is the only known source capable of meeting the governments requirements for the Leica DFC425 digital camera. This is the only camera that meets the salient characteristics needed by the Environmental Lab. Particularly, due to the proprietary design, it is the only camera that is fully compatible with existing Leica microscopes. The government intends to acquire this service using FAR Part 13. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 1:00 p.m. CST on June 7, 2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. No RFP will be issued based upon this Notice of Intent.
