Full Description

Effective as of 30 Nov 2007, government contractors are required to use a valid Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate to access Commercial Asset Visibility Air Force (CAV AF). This requirements is being implemented in accordance with DoD security policy, DODI 8520.2, PKI and Public Key (PK) Enabling, 1 Apr 04, to ensure secure electronic transactions. Contractors working at a DoD facility, who have a Common Access Card (CAC), should already have a PKI certificate. Contractors not working at a DoD facility may purchase a DoD PKI certificate from one of three External Certificate Authorities (ECAs). A list of ECAs and additional guidance is available at http://iase.disa.mil/pki/eca. The only exception to this policy is overseas foreign contracts from countries other than the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. This notice serves as notification to all contractors using CAV AF in support of existing Contract Depot Maintenance acquisitions of the PKI requirement. PKI requirement is not unique to CAV AF and it is expected that this requirement should have minimal impact as most DoD contractors should already have a PKI certificate.
