66--SPECIAL NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE --- ENDEVCO CORPORATION

ERDC Contracting Office intends to solicit on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.5 to ENDEVCO Corporation, 30700 Rancho Viejo Road, San Juan Capistrano 92675-1788. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) -- only one responsible source and nother supplies or services will satisfy agency reqruiements. Endevco is the only known source capable of meeting the Government's requirements due to the unique capability to provide support and service for the MatLab Software. The Govermnet intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 DST on 18 Jun 2010. The Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) is conducting field experiments in support of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization Hard Impact Program at Eglin AFB. During the course of these experiments it will be required to record a range of acceleration data. In order to obtain this data, it is necessary to procure 10 2KG accelerometers (model # 7270A-2000) and 20 1KG accelerometers (model # 2262A-1000) from Endevco. 2. The Sensors, Measurement, and Instrumentation (SM&I) Branch, Information Technology Laboratory has been tasked by GSL to provide acceleration measurement support to this ongoing research program. Historically, SM&I Branch has used high-G accelerometers from a variety of companies to support GSLs research programs. One company that has provided consistent and reliable accelerometers is Endevco. Due to the reliability and accuracy of the Endevco accelerometers, the need to rerun expensive field tests has been reduced. As the result of using accelerometers from Endevco for over 25 years, all current instrumentation, software, and mounting hardware are configured to support these sensors. 3. There is a need to purchase additional accelerometers from Endevco to support an upcoming field test. To maintain consistency with current test setup and to ensure reliability, it is recommended that these accelerometers be purchased from Endevco.
