This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 as supplemental and additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be used. This solicitation is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The solicitation number is RFQ-R8-03-18. The solicitation and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-17. This solicitation is opened to small and large businesses. The applicable NAICS Code is 423490 and small business size standard is 500 employees. The USDA, Forest Services is soliciting forone cabinet X-ray machine. This machine will be used for seed analysis at the National Tree Seed Laboratory. The specifications are as follows: 1.) Physical measurements: Small, table top cabinet size, approximately 17"wide x 18- 1/2" deep x 29" high. Weight 135 pounds. 2.) Energy range: 10 - 35 kV N 3.) Tube current: 300 - A 4.) Timer: .1 to 999 seconds 5.) Focal Spot Size: 20 - m nominal 6.) Window Filtration: 0.01" beryllium 7.) X-Ray Coverage: 40 degrees 8.) Film Coverage: 12" x 14" 9.)Power: 90-250 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 400VA 10.) Shielded and interlocked enclosure 11.) Up to five times radiographic magnification. Quoters must be set-up to received payment by credit card or purchase order. Item must be delivered to Robert Karrfalt, USDA Forest Service, Martell Forest, 1011 N. 725 W., West Lafayette, IN 47906.The required delivery date will be 30 days from date of award. Contract is anticipated to be awarded on or around August 20, 2003. The provisions at 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors Commercial applies without addenda. Award will be made to a responsible contractor whose offer is the lowest, acceptable price and most advantageous to the Government. Award will be made on one item. Offers shall include a complete copy of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications Commercial Items, with quotes. Under the FAR clause 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions Commercial Items, applies without any addenda to the clause to this acquisition.
