NASA/JSC is seeking to acquire specific networking hardware for the Orion vehicle On-Board Data Network to facilitate risk reduction testing of the Time Triggered Ethernet protocol. The required equipment includes six development switches, eight network interface cards, a development system, optical cables, and a small form factor pluggable module. The government intends to purchase these commercial items directly from TTTech North America, Inc., a small business, as they are the sole developer of the proprietary protocol and the only company to have adapted it to Ethernet. Procurement will be conducted under FAR Part 12, and while the government is open to reviewing capabilities and qualifications from other interested organizations to determine if the effort should be competed, the current intent is a non-competitive acquisition.
