The Department of Defense's 6th Contracting Squadron intends to award a sole source delivery order to Beaux-Arts Group, Inc. for the procurement of Knoll modular cubicle furniture to accommodate an increase in personnel. This award is justified under FAR 6.302-1, recognizing Beaux-Arts Group as the only authorized distributor of Knoll furniture in Tampa, Florida, ensuring compatibility with the existing modular systems currently installed at Marine Corps Forces Central Command (MARCENT) facilities. The new furniture must interlock seamlessly with the existing Knoll cubicle systems to maintain design integrity, maximize space utilization, and avoid the significantly higher cost of purchasing an entirely new system estimated at $471,000. Instead, the required additional units can be procured at approximately $12,000, offering a cost-effective solution. The delivery order will be placed under the Knoll GSA Schedule GS-28F-8029A with FOB Destination to MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa. The contract adheres to the NAICS code 442110 for Furniture Stores, with applicable FAR and DFARS clauses incorporated to govern the procurement. While this notice announces the intent to award without competition, interested parties have the opportunity to express interest or submit proposals within a specified period, although the government retains discretion over whether to proceed with competitive procurement. The evaluation emphasizes the unique qualifications of Beaux-Arts Group and the critical necessity to sustain the existing furniture configuration, underscoring the sole source justification for this acquisition.

Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. V. DEMONSTRATION THAT THE CONTRACTOR?S UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS OR NATURE OF THE ACQUISITION REQUIRES THE USE OF THE AUTHORITY CITED ABOVE (APPLICABILITY OF AUTHORITY) Marine Corps Forces Central Command (MARCENT) has installed Knoll modular furniture in all MARCENT facilities. The Knoll modular furniture design?s stability and system integrity hinges on the attachment of properly fitted cubicle systems. In addition, the MARCENT Knoll cubicle system was designed and set-up to maximize the available space within MARCENT. To conjoin another cubicle system would seriously degrade the entire system and would not allow for the maximum use of available space. The other option would be to purchase an entire cubicle system which is currently valued at $471K. Pursuing another cubicle system would not be cost effective nor would it be reasonable when additional Knoll cubicle systems can be purchased for $12K.
