Chevron U.S.A. Inc. is proposing to rework 15 existing wells within the Midway-Sunset Oil Field in Kern County, California, to continue oil and gas resource development. The project, identified as 726925_Group_Chevron_UIC, involves salvage perforation and the reconstruction of casings and wellbores. All perforation activities will be restricted to the existing completion zones, and the work will be performed on existing wellbores and pads without increasing the depth of any well. To support these operations, approximately 750 barrels of metered, reclaimed produced water will be used per well. The California Department of Conservation, Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) has issued a Notice of Exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), citing that the project consists of minor alterations to existing facilities with negligible environmental impact. The 15 specific wells involved are identified by their API numbers, including wells such as 1591, 91, 136, and others in the Midway-Sunset field.
