The U.S. Army RDECOM Contracting Center, Natick Contracting Division, acting on behalf of the Natick Soldier System Center, intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order on a sole source basis to Marlo Manufacturing Co. for custom-designed hot food serving counters and related equipment. The contract involves the procurement of two custom hot food serving counters measuring 80" by 30", each featuring a 14 gauge stainless steel top with five individually controlled and fully insulated 900W, 208/60/3 food wells, two custom mobile counters designed for integration in a COMMZ Kitchen Shelter, and two stainless steel tray slides with fold-down brackets. These items are uniquely tailored to meet the specifications of the COMMZ Kitchen Shelter and rely on proprietary designs with a pending patent held by Marlo Manufacturing. The sole source justification is based on the uniqueness of Marlo Manufacturing's proprietary design, which no other suppliers have been able to match following market research that considered other prototypes but found them unsuitable. While the hot food serving counters are exclusively available from Marlo Manufacturing due to this proprietary design, other appliances necessary for the COMMZ Kitchen Shelter will be competitively procured. Interested parties were invited to express interest by a specified deadline, confirming the agency’s commitment to maintaining openness where feasible. The contracting office handling the award is located in Natick, Massachusetts, with Greg Wilson as the point of contact.
