Southern California Gas Company proposes the abandonment of well Vidor 15, located in the Playa Del Rey Gas Storage Field in Los Angeles County. The project, identified as 745679_SoCalGas_UGS_P&A, involves a comprehensive scope of work including plugging the well with cement to the surface, perforating casing, performing cement squeezes to isolate zones, and the recovery of production casing. Additionally, the project requires the reconstruction of the observation well bore and casing, the placement of abandonment mud and cement between plugs, and the removal of all surface lines and rig anchors. Site restoration will include excavations approximately 6 to 8 feet wide and 5 feet deep to remove anchors, with all work conducted within the existing well pad boundaries. The project is estimated to last approximately 16 weeks and will utilize temporary equipment such as a workover rig, tanks, bins, and pumps. All waste materials will be managed and disposed of as either hazardous or non-hazardous waste at appropriate facilities, and emission avoidance guidelines will be strictly followed. The California Geologic Energy Management Division has determined that the project is exempt from full environmental review under CEQA, citing categorical exemptions for existing facilities and minor land alterations. There are currently no plans for the construction or expansion of associated facilities.
