The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) is seeking sources for Steel Safety Box Toes used in the manufacture of Safety Footwear. DSCP procures a variety of Safety Footwear ranging from Desert Steel Toe Combat Boots; Fireman's Boots; Climbers Boots; and Chukka Shoes. While DSCP procures the end-item footwear from our manufacturers; it seeks domestic steel toe suppliers that can provide this component to DSCP contractors in compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2006. The origin of the raw materials and all manufacturing processes must be performed domestically. See note below. The steel safety box toes used in DSCP footwear generally must meet the technical requirements in the American National Standard for Personnal Protection (ANSI Z41-1999) for Impact, Compression, and Clearance. If your firm is able to provide domestic steel safety toes, please send an e-mail only to Thomas.Hutchinson@dla.mil or Thomas.Darcy@dla.mil. Any questions should be sent in writing to these same addresses. Note: "Section 833 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2006 added language to 10 U.S.C. 2533a requiring that all articles or items of "clothing", including the materials and components thereof, purchased by the Department of Defense be grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the United States, other than sensors, electronics, or other items added to, and not normally associated with, clothing (and the materials and components thereof)."
