The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is in the process of developing draft specifications and standards aimed at accommodating diverse design solutions and manufacturing processes within the naval boiler furnace lining industry. Specifically, the draft MIL-DTL-15606J covers bricks, refractory materials, and burner tiles intended for naval boiler furnace linings, emphasizing quality requirements. The initiative seeks to promote a broad vendor base by providing clear guidance and fostering innovation in the production of these nonmetallic fabricated materials. Interested parties can request copies of the draft document by emailing commandstandards@navy.mil with the document number in the subject line before the specified review deadline. Once finalized, the document will be accessible through the ASSIST Online platform.
