Sole Source Procurement Announcement for LOW Power distance Measuring Equipment (LPDME) The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to extend contract DTFA01-02-C-00060 with Thales ATM to continue manufacturing and delivering of Low Power Distance Measuring Equipment (LPDME) type 415. The contract extension will remain in place until a replacement contract is awarded and the new DME system has been accepted by the FAA. This contract extension will allow the FAA to continue the steady delivery of LPDME to the field and satisfy project requirements. Purpose of the Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System (FAA-AMS) paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the FAA's decision to extend the current contract with Thales ATM for the manufacturing and delivery of LPDMEs. A replacement contract is planned and the SIR is being developed at this time. The FAA intends to conduct a competitive procurement for new DMEs. The FAA is planning for contract award by end of FY 2007 or beginning FY 2008. The draft specification document for the replacement DME contract was publicly announced on June 23, 2006. A competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement.
