The U.S. Government Printing Office is seeking information to aid in the development and implementation of an Integrated Digital Book Manufacturing System (IDBMS). The desired system must be a high-speed, industrial-grade digital printing and finishing solution capable of producing books and pamphlets on demand. It should streamline the entire book production process within a single manufacturing line, starting from PDF input to delivering the completed printed product. The system must handle continuous runs on various paper weights starting at 41 g/m2, accommodate frequent size changes (from approximately 5-7/8 x 9-1/8 inches to 8-1/2 x 11 inches), and support thick products up to 1,000 pages with production runs as large as 10,000 copies. The GPO seeks solutions capable of operating continuously around the clock while using newsprint stock and delivering high-quality binding with maximum speed and efficiency. Respondents are advised to submit their information in triplicate, with a length limit of 25 pages, and encouraged to use expedited mailing services due to postal delays. Contact for this request is provided along with a supervisory contract specialist to facilitate communications. This initiative emphasizes a commercial-quality, integrated digital manufacturing platform tailored for large-scale government printing needs.

The system must be flexible enough to allow for rapid changeovers for various product sizes, ranging from 5-7/8 x 9-1/8 inches to 8-1/2 x 11 inches. The thickness of these products could be as high as 1,000 pages per book and the production order as high as 10,000 copies per run.
