Full Description

The Naval Medical Logistics Command (NAVMEDLOGCOM) intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 to Millitech, Inc.; Northampton, MA 01060, for the delivery of research and development (R&D) equipment, in support of the Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio (NAMRU-SA). This requirement is for is for two Gunn specialized amplifiers (94 GHz & 35 GHz) for use in microbiology research studies at NAMRU-SA , Battlefield Health and Trauma Research Institute (BHT). The systems may be used in other departments and for other projects as required. The estimated value of the contract is $31,755.00. The component of each system, an amplifier, requires a special monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) that is not commercially available. Through internet market research and contacting companies by phone, Millitech is the only company identified that can provide all the necessary components and is the only company that provides this type of amplifier, as it is custom made for this particular system. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for this requirement. However, parties interested in responding to this notice will need to submit technical data, including cost, sufficient to determine capability. All capability statements received by the closing date of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All capability statements received by 2:00 PM Eastern Time, 23 NOV 2011 will be considered by the Government.
