The contract modification to the Raytheon Company pertains to the Airborne Integrated Terminal Group (AITG) update and modification focused on completing the Block 3.0 software upgrade. This action, issued by the 653d Electronic Systems Group/KCA, is a sole source award intended to enhance the Network Centric Systems associated with the AITG, a programmable UHF radio system supporting critical high-availability platforms such as the B-2, RC-135, and AWACS. The AITG facilitates two-way communication via UHF, VHF, and UHF Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) satellite channels, ensuring interoperability with legacy communication systems and serving as a primary or exclusive radio for many U.S. and allied airborne platforms. Due to the original equipment’s nature as Non-Developmental Item (NDI), detailed hardware and software design documentation is not held by the Air Force, making Raytheon the sole responsible source under Federal Acquisition Regulation guidelines. The contract modification requires delivery by December 1, 2008, with the award expected around February 1, 2007. Interested parties were invited to direct inquiries to the designated contract specialist prior to the cutoff date of October 24, 2006. This notice is not a solicitation but an intent notice for this sole source contractual action.
