The Missile Defense Agency plans to award a sole source, firm fixed price contract to Tadiran Electronic Systems, Ltd. in Holon, Israel, for enhancements, operation, maintenance, and experimentation related to the Israeli Test Bed (ITB). The contract, expected to begin around January 1, 2008, includes a one-year base period with four additional one-year option periods, carrying an estimated value of approximately $25 million. Costs will be shared between the U.S. Government and the Government of Israel on a 64/36 percent basis. This contract continues Tadiran's previous work under the U.S. Army Space & Missile Defense Command contract, involving system upgrades and support that are critical to bilateral missile defense efforts. Tadiran is identified as the sole known source capable of performing these services, and the award will be made under the statute allowing sole source procurement due to limited responsible suppliers. Interested contractors believing themselves qualified to perform the work are invited to submit statements detailing their relevant experience with Israeli missile defense systems by August 9, 2007. The contract falls under the NAICS code 541330 and is managed by the Missile Defense Agency within the Department of Defense, with the primary administrative office located in Dahlgren, Virginia. The key contact for contract matters is Colleen D Murphy.
