The Office of Naval Research (ONR) intends to negotiate with Raytheon Company Missile Systems 1151 E. Hermans Rd, Tucson, AZ 85706 on a sole source basis to perform engineering investigations of an AIM-7, an AIM-120, and a Variable Flow Ducted Rocket (VFDR) to determine if the flight parameters can be adjusted to perform a specific mission. Raytheon will also perform a parametric study to determine if it is realistically possible to produce a missile that can meet all the performance requirements. The assessments will include an estimate of the complexity of the engineering tasks required, cost, schedule, and any other pertinent findings to accomplish a successful demonstration of the concept. The end results of this effort will demonstrate the feasibility of modifying or developing a missile to perform the desired performance profile.
