Full Description

The Rocket Systems Launch Program (RSLP), Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM, is contemplating the award of a Near Space Communication System (Previously known as the Near Space Operational System). The RFP and is attached to this announcement. The system will be an integrated communication repeater that is balloon-borne to extend radio communications beyond line-of-site. The system will be designed to launch from a remote location and controlled via a portable command and control system. The lifting gas used in the system may be hydrogen or helium. Implementation of the repeater system will allow the warfighter to extend the range of indigenous VHF/UHF radios. The communications repeater will also act as a primary payload platform to support secondary payloads.
