The Idaho National Laboratory has developed an innovative ion mobility spectrometer featuring a novel design that significantly improves resolution, sensitivity, and detection limits. This technology is adaptable for both positive and negative ion detection modes, including the possibility of dual-mode operation, and can accommodate either continuous or pulsed ionization sources and detection schemes. The INL is seeking collaboration with qualified industrial firms interested in cooperative research and development, with an emphasis on commercializing this advanced device. Funding for the project is expected to come from participants and potentially from the Department of Defense or other government agencies. The INL intends to pursue patent protection for the new method and apparatus, offering opportunities for exclusive or non-exclusive licensing of the resulting intellectual property. Interested parties are encouraged to respond within three weeks to explore cooperative research agreements, licensing terms, and technical implementation details. Key contacts for technical and business inquiries are provided to facilitate communication and partnership development.

Description The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) has developed a new ion mobility spectrometer device that uses a novel, unconventional design to enhance resolution, sensitivity and detection limits. The design can be implemented in either positive or negative ion detection modes, potentially simultaneously in a dual mode. It can also be designed for either a continuous or pulsed ionization source and/or detection scheme. The INL is soliciting interest from qualified industrial firms interested in participating in projects and commercializing this technology. It is anticipated that the project will be carried out through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with funding support being provided by the participant(s) and possibly funding from DOD or other government agencies. The INL is seeking patent protection on the method and device. Resulting intellectual property may be licensed exclusively or non-exclusively. The INL invites interested parties to contact us regarding the details of cooperative research, licensing, and implementing this technology. Interested parties should respond within the next three weeks.
