The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA), supporting the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR), intends to issue a firm-fixed-price purchase order exclusively to Immunocept, LLC for the procurement of the SeptiFlux very large pore filtration device. Immunocept, LLC holds the patent for this device, making them the sole source provider under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1, which allows a sole-source award when only one responsible source exists for the required supplies or services. This notice serves as an official communication that a written solicitation will not be issued, but interested parties may express their interest and capability to respond by the specified deadline. Responses will be considered to determine if a competitive procurement is warranted, though the government retains full discretion whether to proceed competitively. Interested small business concerns are invited to submit their capabilities in writing by 5:00 PM EST on August 16, 2012, although this special notice is not a formal request for quotes. The requirement falls under NAICS code 541711, and all inquiries or responses must be directed via email to the designated contact, Mr. Drew Meilinger. This procurement highlights the government's reliance on the unique patented technology of Immunocept and underscores that no alternative sources meet the operational needs for this specific filtration device.
