Advance Contract Award Notice. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) requires the services of a Contractor to operate the duck banding station at Lac Saint-Pierre, in the Anse-du-Fort sector, for the summer periods of 2024, 2025 and 2026. The Contractor will also assist the Canadian Wildlife Service-Quebec (CWS-QC) in banding temperate geese on the Varennes Islands.
If necessary, the Contractor may also be called upon to assist with the activities of a banding station operated by another Contractor in the Nicolet area.
The main objective is to operate the duck banding station at Lac Saint-Pierre, in the Anse-du-Fort sector. The results obtained in a final report will contribute to the cooperative duck banding program.
The exhaustive list of tasks is as follows:
• Participation in banding efforts for temperate geese on the Varennes islands
• Assist the banders in charge of the Nicolet banding station as needed
• Work preparation (purchase and rental of start-up equipment) and site visit
• Construction and/or repair of cages
• Pre-baiting (fifteen (15) days minimum before the start of operations)
• Installation of four (4) large cages
• Notify conservation officers
• Shipping dead ducks
• Capturing harmful mammals
• Capture and banding of ducks
• Daily data compilation
• Closing the cages
• Material storage
• Production of an activity report
• Shipment of material to the Canadian Wildlife Service.
At the end of each summer season, a final activity report must be submitted electronically to the Project Manager.
Constraints :
• All work and deliverables must be in French.
• The Contractor will not be reimbursed for actual authorized travel and living expenses reasonably incurred in the performance of the work.
• The Contractor must comply with the following task risk analysis: Waterfowl Banding Risk.
