The Department of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has a requirement to conduct an update of a
2018 International Energy Agency Study (IEA) that assessed, the energy efficiency potential of the
Canada to 2050. The work will involve the following: using a Prospective Outlook on Long-Term Energy
Systems (POLES) based model compatible with the World Energy Model (WEM) provide an updated
Current Policies Scenario, Announced Pledges Scenario, Energy Efficiency Scenario.
Any interested supplier must demonstrate by way of a statement of capabilities that it meets the following
requirements:
o Knowledge and understanding of:
1) Proprietary access to a Prospective Outlook on Long-Term Energy Systems model
capable of updating International Energy Agency World for Canada, North America, the
UK, and the European Union countries;
2) Energy model projections with same details and level of model outputs;
3) World Energy Model logics, properties and applications to country simulations and how a
Prospective Outlook on Long-Term Energy Systems based model can be used to update
an existing Study based on World Energy Model;
o Experience:
1) 20 years in energy-economy modeling, including 10 years’ experience using a
Prospective Outlook on Long-Term Energy Systems based modeling system conducting
country energy supply and demand scenarios using the International Energy Agency
database;
2) Working with the International Energy Agency on Energy Model Projections for 3
completed projects in the past 5 years using a Prospective Outlook on Long-Term Energy
Systems based model.
