On 29 September 2026 the Australian Government will be inviting (via a restricted process) Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs) to apply to deliver electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure under the Accelerating Electric Vehicle Charging Program. The Program seeks to leverage the complementary strengths of DNSPs and Charge Point Operators to rapidly rollout EV chargers and support the creation of a dynamic market that can meet the future needs of Australian EV drivers. The deployment of EV chargers and electrification of light vehicles is a key part of the Australian Government’s plan to rapidly decarbonise the transport sector and meet emissions reduction targets. The Program will make $33.2 million (GST exclusive) available over the 2027–28 and 2028–29 financial years. Grant activities must be completed by 30 April 2029. The final Grant Opportunity Guidelines and other supporting documents will be published when the grant opportunity is open for applications.
