Full Description

The High Temperature Materials Group in the Structures and Materials Performance Laboratory of the National Research Council’s (NRC) Aerospace (AERO-SMPL-HTM) requires an active vibration isolation (AVI) system to achieve the required performance of the group’s ultra-high resolution scanning electron microscope (UHR-SEM). AERO-SMPL-HTM uses its UHR-SEM in advanced research on a wide range of materials for various applications. However, the instrument cannot provide the highest possible image resolution due to significant low-frequency disturbances during high-magnification imaging. A new AVI system will effectively dampen mechanical vibrations and eliminate disruptive low-frequency vibration noise that interferes with image acquisition. The new system will allow the UHR-SEM to achieve its optimum performance, and enhance AERO-SMPL’s capability to conduct advanced research and provide data for a large number of the research projects.

High Capacity Load Cell
Solicitation # 26-58130
The National Research Council Canada is soliciting offers for the acquisition of a high-capacity, low-profile tension and compression load cell for use in a structures laboratory for large-scale testing of components, assemblies, and materials. The required unit must be a 600 kip load cell that is mechanically, electrically, and functionally compatible with an existing MTS 201.90 servo-hydraulic actuator, requiring no modifications to the actuator, signal conditioning, or data acquisition systems. Technical specifications mandate a maximum height of 10.5 inches and hub/base threads of 4-8 UN 3B with a minimum depth of 4.25 inches. The successful supplier must provide the load cell along with a base, screws, a lifting plug, and a minimum 5-point tension and compression calibration for each of the two required bridges. This solicitation is open to Canadian suppliers and will be awarded to the compliant offer with the lowest evaluated price. Bids must be submitted electronically by October 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST. The contract requires delivery to Ottawa, Ontario, under DAP Incoterms 2020, with a final receipt deadline of December 1, 2026, and a total period of performance extending to December 31, 2026. The load cell must be delivered within 13 weeks of the contract award. Evaluation is based on a pass/fail technical screen of mandatory criteria, including the provision of detailed specifications or brochures, followed by a financial evaluation in Canadian dollars.
