Additive Manufacturing System

This is a Sources Sought announcement issued by the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer within the Department of the Treasury to conduct market research for an industrial-grade additive manufacturing system to be installed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC. The purpose is solely to gather information from qualified sources regarding the availability of capable vendors and solutions; no award will be made from this notice, and no solicitation documents currently exist. Interested parties of any size may respond by submitting a Capability Statement via email to Erica Hemphill by June 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. EST, and all responses must be in PDF format. The system is intended to replace an obsolete unit and must meet strict technical requirements including a minimum build envelope of 400×350×400 mm, a heated chamber capable of at least 90°C, dimensional accuracy within ±0.25 mm, parts with minimum tensile strength of 30 MPa and impact strength of 50 J/m, compatibility with STL/3MF/AMF file formats, and an open-material architecture. The system must also include a support removal cleaning station and be capable of producing complex geometries with sacrificial support material. Delivery and installation must occur within nine months of any future contract award at the BEP’s loading dock on D Street SW, with appointments required through the designated hotline. The product must comply with the National Electric Code, OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and applicable District of Columbia environmental codes, as well as Attachment 0001 and Attachment 0002 regarding environmental, health, and safety requirements for large equipment purchases. The system’s performance will be validated through a Bureau Acceptance Test followed by 480 hours of uninterrupted operation across three shifts. The contractor must provide comprehensive in-person training for five BEP personnel over four days—two days of software training and two days of operating training—with all materials delivered in English and becoming government property. A one-year warranty is required upon acceptance, with four optional one-year extension periods for continued support, each requiring documentation submission two months prior to activation. Packaging must adhere to facility constraints including maximum vehicle height of 12’6” and length of 42’, with deliveries only permitted between 8:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.
