The Department of Defense is hosting an Advance Planning Brief for Industry (APBI) on June 1-2, 2006, at the Hilton in Old Town, Alexandria, VA. This event is a collaborative effort between the Army’s Product Manager Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM CIE) and the US Marine Corps’ Product Manager Infantry Combat Equipment (PM ICE), aimed at informing industry partners about future requirements, ongoing programs, and business opportunities related to military clothing and individual equipment systems. The two-day conference will provide comprehensive overviews, program updates, and detailed discussions on multiple commodity areas such as footwear, cold weather gear, load bearing equipment, ballistic protective items, hydration systems, and uniforms, including Army- and USMC-unique products. Industry members from both large and small businesses are invited to attend, though attendance is limited to a maximum of two representatives per company and capped at 400 participants. The schedule includes a registration session on the evening of May 31, followed by presentations and networking opportunities on June 1. Day two features concurrent breakout sessions focusing on specific product lines and emerging military needs, allowing for in-depth engagement with Assistant Product Managers. These sessions are designed to provide detailed insights into research and development, testing, evaluation, and future contract opportunities. Interested companies must register by May 8, 2006, by submitting attendee information to the point of contact, Lushana Offutt.
