The Advanced Explosive Ordnance Disposal Robotic System (AEODRS) program seeks to develop a family of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) designed to support Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) forces in countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and unexploded ordnance (UXO). The family is expected to include dismounted, tactical, and base/infrastructure operations variants, all sharing a common, open architecture—logical, electrical, and physical—and controlled by a standardized operator control unit. A documentation package, version 1.1, detailing the common system architecture along with performance specifications and interface control documents specific to the dismounted variant, is scheduled for release around September 22, 2011. This package facilitates ongoing engagement with industry, academia, and government agencies interested in the program. Interested parties wishing to receive the documentation package must submit their contact details to the designated government representative by September 15, 2011. Recipients of the prior version 1.0 package will automatically receive version 1.1 without resubmission. This announcement serves solely for informational purposes and does not represent a solicitation, invitation for bids, or commitment for future contracts. The government clarifies that requesting the documentation package is not a prerequisite for submitting proposals in the future, and no payment will be made for any effort related to the request or review of the material. Instructions on how to provide feedback on the draft documentation will be included with the release. The program is managed by the Department of Defense's Naval Surface Warfare Center located in Indian Head, Maryland.
