The USAF has allocated up to $20 million to redesign and replace the Fixed Wing (plane) helmet used by pilots and aircrew. Whether you make or design entire helmet systems or just components that are, or might be related, we're challenging you to help us create the helmet of the future. This challenge is a new initiative for USAF and uses the AFWERX team and process to find people with the ideas, components, materials and technologies to improve the Fixed Wing Aircrew Helmet. Even if you aren't sure your technology could be used in a USAF helmet still submit your ideas so we can engage with you. The helmet of tomorrow needs to be lightweight, comfortable, stable, improved noise protection, have better thermal management and the ability to tailor the helmet for different needs. The goal is to enhance aircrew performance, safety and satisfaction. ALL Non-traditional are invited to participate!!!!!!!!! Air Delivered Effects Broad Area Announcement
Solicitation # FA8651-22-S-0001
Solicitation FA8651-22-S-0001 is an unrestricted Broad Agency Announcement issued by the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate for research in Air Delivered Effects. The program seeks proposals for Basic Research, Applied Research, and Advanced Technology Development specifically related to conventional munitions technology. This open BAA remains active for five years from its posting date and encourages participation from private industry, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. The scope includes scientific study and experimentation, with potential opportunities for battle lab experiments and Team Eglin Technology Demonstration Programs, including specialized research into cyber survivability and Zero Trust capabilities. The acquisition utilizes a two-step process where interested parties first submit a white paper of five pages or less, including a completed SF-424, a Security Program Questionnaire, and a Senior/Key Person Profile. White papers are evaluated based on technical approach and a Rough Order of Magnitude cost and schedule. If favorably evaluated, the government may issue a formal Request for Proposal. Final awards are assessed on innovation, technical soundness, understanding of scope, transition potential, and cost realism. Resulting contracts require electronic invoicing via Wide Area Workflow and may necessitate Secret level security clearances and strict adherence to export control and cybersecurity regulations.
