The Naval Air Systems Command is negotiating an order with Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems to qualify modifications for the AQS-22 Airborne Low Frequency Sonar system baseline. The primary objective is to eliminate obsolete components by updating and qualifying the Digital Transducer Assembly using production representative test articles and submitting a part two Engineering Change Proposal. This effort aims to establish a new production baseline that resolves all identified obsolescence issues while ensuring full compliance with the ALFS System Segment Specification and the Requirements Verification Matrix. To maintain operational continuity, the updated baseline must remain backward compatible with legacy weapon replaceable assemblies and require no modifications to existing MH-60R helicopter interfaces. Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems was selected as the sole source for this project due to their unique position as the original manufacturer and developer, possessing the necessary technical data and expertise to meet the government's timeline. The work is being performed in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-08-G-0013.
