Amendment of Zoning Map 179, Zone Change Case No. 6

The Amendment of Zoning Map 179, Zone Change Case No. 6, is a project managed by the Kern County Planning and Natural Resources Department involving a change in zone classification for approximately 402 acres across two legal parcels in the Mojave area of California. Located on the south side of Proteus Road, approximately 650 feet east of Highway 14, the project site consists of APN 225-241-18 and 225-250-21. The Kern County Board of Supervisors approved the project on October 21, 2025, and determined it is statutorily exempt from California Environmental Quality Act requirements. The zoning changes are divided into four specific areas. Area 1 consists of 111 acres transitioning from Highway Commercial to Highway Commercial Precise Development Combining or a more restrictive district. Area 2 involves 142 acres moving from Medium Industrial to Medium Industrial Precise Development Combining or a more restrictive district. Area 3 covers 148 acres transitioning from Heavy Industrial to Heavy Industrial Precise Development Combining or a more restrictive district. Area 4 consists of 1.27 acres moving from Highway Commercial to Highway Commercial Precise Development Combining or a more restrictive district.
