Full Description

The park's existing main water line was installed beneath the entrance drive and has experienced recurring leaks at locations corresponding with the individual pipe sections. Repairs require Parks maintenance staff to excavate to a considerable depth within or adjacent to the entrance drive, resulting in disruptive and labor-intensive maintenance work. To address these recurring leaks, Parks staff evaluated abandoning the existing water line in place and relocating the replacement line into the landscaped area adjacent to the entrance drive. Parks maintenance staff reviewed the proposed alignment and determined that the design is operationally feasible and will improve access for future maintenance. Bowman & Williams prepared the plans and specifications for the project. The proposed work includes installation of approximately 925 linear feet of new water line, abandonment of the existing water line, connections to the existing park water system and utility infrastructure, installation of valves and related appurtenances, limited removal and replacement of concrete paving, testing and disinfection, erosion control, and restoration of disturbed areas. No tree removal is anticipated.
