A Sewer Connection Feasibility Study entitled “Andrea Avenue – Unincorporated Area” was prepared by AM Consulting Engineers in February 2020 to address the needed improvements. Please refer to that document in Appendix A for specific project characteristics. A summary of Project activities is included herein. The proposed Project consists of connecting to the City of Bakersfield sewer system and annexing the Project Area to the City of Bakersfield. The Project Area is an unincorporated island surrounded by the City of Bakersfield. The City of Bakersfield collection system is very close to the Project Area and offers several potential connection points to convey sewer from the project area. Sewer that enters the City’s sewer collection system from the Project Area would flow to Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 located at 1700 E. Planz Road.This Project will involve the following components: 1.Installing approximately 620 feet of 4-inch service connection to houses and properties. 2.Installing approximately 440 feet of 6-inch PVC main. 3.Installing approximately 8250 feet of 8-inch PVC main. 4.Installing approximately 3490 feet of 10-inch PVC main. 5.Conducting approximately 26,900 square feet of trenching and surface restoration. 6.Installing approximately 35 4-inch-diameter manholes. 7.Installing sewer system connections at 279 residential dwellings, 236 commercial units,and 126 industrial units.
