AI Contract Overview
The APEX LOCATOR contract under solicitation SPE2DH-26-T-5281 specifies the procurement of two units of a portable endodontic device manufactured by J. MORITA U.S.A. Inc. with part number 24-5336392, also available through Henry Schein Inc. as part number 721-0056. Each unit includes a control unit with a start-up package consisting of three AA batteries, three file holders, a probe cord, a function tester, contrary electrodes, and operator literature. The device is FDA-regulated, has a 96.2% accuracy rate, supports automatic calibration, operates in wet canals, and features a slim design with a large LCD screen. It is classified as a critical application item with strict packaging requirements, governed by DLA’s Medical Marking Standard No. 1, superseding MIL-STD-129, and must be packaged in commercial-grade sealed containers to ensure protection during transit and safe delivery by common carriers at the lowest rate to the destination in North Charleston, SC. Mercury and mercury-containing compounds are prohibited except in functional batteries, fluorescent lamps, or specified instruments, with portable fluorescent lamps and mercury-containing devices required to be shock-proof and have a secondary containment boundary. Packaging must comply with ASTM D3951 if non-hazardous, or FED-STD-313 and TQ requirement IP025 if hazardous, with all DLA technical and quality requirements taking precedence. Delivery is FOB destination within 20 days, with zero variance allowed on quantity, and inspection and acceptance occur at the point of delivery. Shipping must be by the fastest traceable means, excluding parcel post, and all packaging must be palletized according to RP001 standards. The contract is under the NSN 6520-01-529-4332, with a unit price of $2.00 and total value of $4.00, and is sourced through DLA Troop Support’s authorized channels with specific unit of issue controls and NSN source codes 274A, 278A, and 4728.
