AQD Monitoring Equiptment

The District of Columbia’s Department of Energy and Environment is forecasted to award a $350,000 grant under the Inflation Reduction Act to support the acquisition of equipment and parts for a mobile ambient air monitoring program. This initiative is designed to enhance the city’s capacity to collect real-time air quality data through mobile platforms, enabling more responsive and targeted environmental monitoring across diverse neighborhoods. The funding will be used specifically for the procurement of advanced sensors, calibration tools, data loggers, and other necessary components to deploy and maintain a fleet of mobile monitoring units capable of detecting pollutants such as ozone, particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and other criteria air contaminants. The grant is part of a broader effort to improve environmental justice outcomes by expanding air quality data collection in communities disproportionately affected by pollution. While the solicitation is currently in forecast status with no formal solicitation number or set-aside details yet released, the anticipated procurement will prioritize reliable, low-cost, and portable monitoring technologies that can be rapidly deployed and easily maintained.
