Arts, Culture and Status of Women - Request for Proposal - Reynolds Museum - Concrete Floor in Storage Building

The contract entails the engineering and construction of a 60 by 180 foot concrete floor slab within an existing storage building, along with an 18 by 20 foot concrete driveway approach pad outside the front overhead door. Subgrade preparation requires full removal of organic material and installation of a minimum six-inch compacted crushed stone aggregate subbase, with the contractor responsible for all grading and placement. A six-mil polyethylene vapor barrier must be installed over the subbase, with all seams and penetrations overlapped by at least eight inches and sealed with Tuck Tape or an equivalent product. The concrete slab must be a minimum of six inches thick, using a 32 mPa mix with C-2 exposure class, five to eight percent air entrainment, and fiber reinforcement to mitigate shrinkage cracking. The mix must contain three-quarter-inch aggregate, reinforced with #4 rebar spaced 16 to 18 inches on center, with at least two inches of concrete cover over the rebar. The finished surface requires power troweling on the main floor and a light broom finish at man door entrances, with control cuts deepened to 1.5 to 2 inches. The contractor must supply all necessary portable generators and temporary lighting due to the absence of on-site utilities and must secure any required permits. Concrete must be sourced from a Concrete Alberta Certified Production Facility, and a formal engineering report for the slab design is mandatory.
