The project involves upgrading the Ault Substation in Colorado by replacing thirteen-point-eight-kilovolt oil-filled reactors with government-provided air core reactors, enhancing system reliability and reducing maintenance needs. Simultaneously, six government-furnished two-hundred-thirty-kilovolt capacitance-coupled voltage transformers will be installed on existing structures to improve voltage monitoring and protection systems. Additionally, four one-hundred-fifteen-kilovolt line switches at the Windsor Tap and Hygiene Tap locations will be replaced on existing infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient switching operations. All work is to be performed using existing structures, minimizing the need for new construction and reducing environmental impact. The procurement is forecasted under a small business set-aside, with the Western Area Power Administration, a division of the Department of Energy, leading the effort.
