The United States Army Corps of Engineers Engineering Research and Development Center Construction Engineering Research Laboratory in Champaign, Illinois, requires quarterly on-site preventative maintenance and necessary repairs for two steam autoclaves, specifically Beta Star and Sterilco models, located in the Microbiology Laboratory. The contract structure includes a base year and three option years, covering all parts and labor. The government intends to award this contract to Scientific Services Plus on a sole source basis under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), as the vendor has provided services for the past four years and utilizing another provider would void existing warranties on recent repairs. Full Description

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center - Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) in Champaign, IL has a requirement to provide quarterly on site preventative maintenance and any repairs (to include parts and labor) outside of the quarterly PM's for two steam autoclaves (Beta Star and Sterilco) located in the Microbiology Laboratory (room 1039) at ERDC-CERL in Champaign, IL (to include the base year and 3 option years). Market research has found that Scientific Services Plus (SSP) is the only source reasonably available to satisfy the Government's requirement. SSP has been the preventative maintenance service provider for the previous four (4) years, and moreover has recently completed several repairs to both autoclaves. Although it is possible for another service provider to satisfy the requirement, in doing so the work of another provider would void all warranties on the repairs (and maintenance) that SSP has completed to date. ERDC-CERL intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Scientific Services Plus in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 811219 which has a size standard of $20,500,000.00. This is not a small business set aside.
