The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division at China Lake, California, is conducting market research to determine if other sources besides Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Albany, Inc. can meet its requirement for a Thermoplastic Fiber Placement (TPFP) Head compatible with its existing XTS-400 Automated Fiber Placement system. The goal is to enable the processing of thermoplastic resins alongside its current thermoset capabilities, with the new head being fully interchangeable with the existing setup. The requirement includes delivery of the TPFP head, feed motor and cable set, umbilical assembly, electrical and software updates—specifically to the end dome algorithm—and comprehensive technical documentation such as equipment, software, and maintenance manuals. The system must operate on 480VAC, three-phase, 60 Hz power with compressed air at 100–150 psi at 50L/min and compressed nitrogen at 100–150 psi at 120L/min. Delivery must be completed and ready to ship within one year of order placement, with FOB Destination terms requiring the contractor to arrange and fund suitable packaging and shipping to NAWCWD in China Lake, CA 93555.
