Description: The RFP is an invitation to submit offers for the Supply and Install of an Automated Variable-Angle Spectroscopic Thin-Film Characterization System (Ellipsometer) with In Situ Electrochemical Capability. The instrument will be used for in- and ex-situ time-resolved characterization of electrochemically driven surface and interfacial processes on metal, oxide, sulfide, semiconductor, and other surfaces. It enables real-time, in-situ monitoring of passive film formation, breakdown, and repassivation under controlled electrochemical polarization, capturing changes in film thickness, optical properties, and interfacial structure. The system will support mechanistic and kinetic studies of corrosion, oxide growth, and degradation processes relevant to the energy sector, including materials used in nuclear reactors, nuclear waste management, oil and gas pipelines, and hydrogen production, storage, and transport. This instrumentation is essential for resolving transient phenomena that cannot be captured with ex-situ or steady-state measurement techniques. Refer to the RFP document for further information.
