AI Contract Overview
The U.S. Geological Survey’s Eastern Ecological Science Center plans to award a non-competitive purchase order to Brooks Applied Labs for the metals analysis of fish muscle tissue samples, specifically targeting arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury at detection limits of 0.002 mg/kg, 0.002 mg/kg, 0.002 mg/kg, and 0.003 mg/kg respectively. Brooks is the sole provider capable of meeting all required detection thresholds for these four metals at a single facility, justifying the non-competitive approach under applicable federal regulations. While the notice invites informational input from other potential sources under RFO provisions, it explicitly states that no competitive quotations are being solicited. The anticipated award date is May 31, 2026, and the contracting office is located in Reston, Virginia, under the Department of the Interior.
