Youngstown Air Reserve Station plans to award a sole source non-personal service contract to the Manatee County Mosquito Control District, leveraging their specialized experience and technical capabilities. The contract focuses on conducting wind tunnel testing to analyze the droplet spectra produced by Ultra Low Volume (ULV) nozzles, specifically TeeJet stainless steel fan nozzles used in modular aerial spray systems (MASS). This involves preparing, testing, analyzing, and dismantling the equipment under high-speed conditions of over 200 knots to ensure precise droplet sizing that meets the requirements set by the Air Force and the U.S. EPA. Additionally, the testing will assess the structural integrity and chemical dispersion efficacy of two specific rotary atomizer nozzles: the Miconair AU 4000 and the Dyna-Fog ASC-A10. The evaluations aim to confirm that these nozzles can disperse chemicals at the necessary rates for effective application. The contract is managed by the Department of Defense office at Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna, Ohio, with James M. Roetzel serving as the contract specialist.
