The project involves comprehensive wood floor refinishing across three areas at Broome Community College: Baldwin Gym, West Gym, and the Dance Studio. For Baldwin Gym, approximately 10,000 square feet, the contractor is responsible for inspecting the floor, repairing existing badminton anchors, installing new volleyball anchors, sanding, sealing, and applying logos, lines, and custom staining as directed by the Athletic Director. Additionally, the contractor must replace padding behind backboards to meet safety standards. West Gym, covering about 9,000 square feet, requires similar preparation, including anchor repairs, installation of badminton sleeves, sanding, sealing, and marking with logos for basketball, volleyball, and badminton. The Dance Studio, roughly 1,500 square feet, involves sanding and applying multiple coats of oil-based stain and sealer to achieve the desired finish. The contract emphasizes quality control, adherence to all relevant codes, and compliance with prevailing wage rates. The work must be substantially completed by August 16, 2024, with final completion by August 23, 2024, for the base bid, while an alternate option allows for West Gym to be finished by the deadline and the other areas by mid-January 2025. The project is open to all NYS counties, with a minority-owned subcontracting goal of 3.5%, and is not set aside for service-disabled veteran-owned businesses. The total contract value is estimated between $50,000 and $150,000, and responses are due by June 20, 2024.
